Before cell phones and ipods became mainstream, a young man from small town America sets out on a big journey. In 3 a.m. Bull Rider Joseph Lauricella writes as if the events in the book happened yesterday, even though they happened over 16 years ago. Fueled with curiosity, fear, guilt, and a genuine desire to answer a calling, he drives away from everything. He wasn't running from circumstances, nor did he conquer some great feat. Like the beat generation he dives in, swims around, and gives us an account of his uninhibited and often improvised life on the road. If you've ever wanted to drive far away from home to experience something bigger, something intriguing, something scary, lonely, spiritual, real, honest, something hopeful and alive, then read this book.
3 am Bull Rider eBook Joseph Lauricella
"We only have a certain number of hours in this life," Joseph Lauricella writes in his masterful memoir of self-discovery, "... I don't want to waste those hours...I want to spend those hours making a difference in the lives of others." He can certainly take heart that the countless hours he devoted to this book were not wasted and will be of great value to anyone who reads 3 a.m. Bull Rider. In a tightly written manuscript that beckons the reader to share this unique coming of age story, Mr. Lauricella recounts the seven months in 1995 he spent `on the road' in his 1979 Chevy Van following the advice of his one-time friend Ben: "Go check out the world. Most people never go anywhere. They make themselves too busy or are just too scared." After you read this book, you'll understand how Lauricella - if he was scared, and he probably was - overcame his fears and in the process lived more life in seven months than most people live in a lifetime.
The story is filled with a young man's wisdom that can only be appreciated in retrospect. The prose is as direct as the value the author imparts. "There is something so attractive to me about living off the land. Every action deliberate and mindful. Nothing... taken for granted..." About values, he writes, "My family wasn't driven by wealth... They were driven by love."
Lauricella's study of Native American culture is prominent from start to finish, so too the strength of a solid upbringing in an Italian American family. He spares us none of the pain he feels in his encounters with death, but those encounters strengthen him like they strengthen the reader he shares his story with.
3 a.m. Bull Rider will make you laugh and it will make you cry. Above all, it will make you examine your own life be it past, present or to come. At Mr. Lauricella's invitation, you will revisit everything that has ever affected you, both good and bad. Take the journey... you'll be glad you did.

3 am Bull Rider eBook Joseph Lauricella Reviews
3 a.m. Bull Rider is courageous, inspirational, insightful, and subtle in its teachings. Joseph has given us the gift of unabashedly laying himself out there for all of us to see. A quick, beautiful read that will change the way you view the world.
This book is one of the best books that I have ever read. I enjoyed what this book was about. I did not dislike anything about this book. I would recommend this book to anybody that is willing to read a great book.
Joseph takes on the struggle of our time as we come of age with fading rites of passage and a wonderful melting pot culture that leaves many of us unable to balance the older values of church and work in a way that leaves so much of what is natural out of the equation. He finds his own passage to what is "right" for him. A great read, look forward to more.
This author had the requisite courage and self-honesty to take "the road less traveled" to experience himself authentically, outside of the roles and expectations of young American men. The writing, clear and engaging, portrays an essentially good and loving young man, searching for meaning and purpose in life.

I was drawn into the book. The emotions pouring into me. As I listened to his story the images formed in my mind as if I had been there with him. I'll admit, I've been nervous now, like I read his diary while it was laying open on the table. If you've ever met the man you'll agree he is intense; there are the profound things that he says and the profound way he changes your life when you meet him. Thank you Joseph for sharing yourself with me...for sharing yourself with all of us.
I highly recommend this book. The author writes of his cross country journey in a van. The book is full of amazing stories as well as inspiration. Whether you are an armchair traveler or a frequent flyer this book will move you. Each chapter depicts a different experience or adventure that took place during the authors soul searching journey. The writing is gripping and allows the reader to feel as if he or she is actually on the road with Joseph.
In his debut novel, "3 a.m. Bull Rider", Joseph Lauricella takes us along for the ride in the front seat of his van "Noah", allowing us to experience his trials and tribulations while on the road (literally) to self-discovery.
This is a brilliant, beautiful and gripping account of a cross-country road trip in search of one's self. Packed with raw emotion, Joseph exposes his curiosities and fears, his strengths and weaknesses, his rigidness and flexibility, and his pleasure and pain in facing the unknown.
I was captivated from the start. I laughed and I cried. I was absorbed and I was shaken. I was inspired and I was awakened. I trust that you will be too.
