Delaney Hart has come a long way from her wild youth, dating tattooed bikers at her father’s bar, The Bad Seed. But when his death pulls her back to Wildwood, California, she must stay to renovate the dive he left her. And also face the lies and secrets that sent her running ten years before.

When Wildwood’s chief building inspector, Ethan Hayes, shows up on the property, Delaney doesn’t recognize him. The last thing he wants to do is save the bar where his cousin died in a brawl. But the good boy from her past is all too willing to remind her of the bad girl she used to be. And one night of passion leaves them both in a compromising position.

The last place Ethan should be is in Delaney’s bed. Guilt, family pressure, and plans for a brewpub of his own make shutting down The Bad Seed his top priority…until his feelings for Delaney interfere. Because her future depends on the success of the bar’s renovation and his dreams are rooted in its failure, their forbidden romance may be destined for heartbreak.

Forbidden Fling Wildwood Book 1 edition by Skye Jordan Contemporary Romance eBooks

Hands down Skye Jordan is one of my favorite authors! She is also one of the very few I can say that I have on my auto buy list and for good reasons. She never fails to deliver amazing books, ones that contain intriguing storylines, along with just the right amount of heart and sizzling heat. Forbidden Fling has all of those qualities and so much more. Skye definitely hits a home run with the first book in her new Wildwood series from Montlake Romance. If you love contemporary romance, Forbidden Fling is a must read for the summer!

The story is set in the small town of Wildwood, ten years after an accident claimed the life of a family member of Ethan Hayes’ in the bar owned by Delaney Hart’s father, The Bad Seed. This death forever changed the lives of Ethan, Delaney and their families. While Ethan stayed in Wildwood and dealt with the fallout of what happened, Delaney packed her bags and ran as far as she could. Now that her father has passed away, as the oldest daughter she’s back in town to decide the fate of The Bad Seed, the bar that ruined so many peoples’ lives, including hers. Time has taken its toll on the dilapidated structure and Delaney, who’s now a construction project manager, must figure out if it is better to just bulldoze the place down or to rebuild it and sell it off. Enter Ethan, Wildwood’s totally hot chief planner and building inspector by day, and local brewmaster by night. The Bad Seed has something he needs. It’s the only thing that stands in the way of his future and he’d like nothing more than Delaney, his former high school crush, to bulldoze the place to the ground so that he could get what he wants. The problem is that despite the fact that Ethan and Delaney shouldn’t be together, they can’t seem to keep their hands off each other which eventually leads to bigger problems, ones of the heart. While the heart wants what it wants, the fact still remained that for each of them to achieve their goals, the other must fail. That’s a hard pill to swallow when you care about someone.

When I think of Ethan and Delaney the phrase “between a rock and a hard place” comes to mind. No truer words could describe these two characters. Both of them made mistakes on that fateful night, ones they can’t take back, no matter how much they wished they could. Now they are chained to a past that can’t ever be changed, and are saddled with gut wrenching guilt that eats at them every day, never letting them forget the pain they’ve caused their families. What makes this story so interesting is how each of them dealt with that guilt, how their actions after what happened shaped who they are as a person and how they’ve lived their lives and how all of that has affected their family dynamics.

The sex scenes in Forbidden Fling are smokin’ hot! If you’re like me, sometimes you’ll find yourself skimming through sex scenes in books if they are not well done. That’s never the case in a Skye Jordan book. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and I can guarantee that you’ll be taking your time to savor every word, every touch, every thought that Ethan and Delaney share together.

There are plenty of interesting secondary characters introduced in Forbidden Fling, so Ms. Jordan has oodles of room to expand the series which I’m sure will thrill fans like me. In fact, Wild Kisses, Avery and Trace’s story, is already up for pre-order and due out January 10, 2017!

4.5 stars
Delaney Hart has something Ethan Hayes wants BADLY.... a liquor license. You know, there are only so many to go around otherwise everyone would open a liquor store or bar or pub or hard lemonade stand. Delaney has been holding on to her license since her dad died and with that, she also owns a 3rd of the dilapidated bar her father left to her and her two sisters. The mayor of Wildwood wants that building destroyed for more reasons than it's just an eyesore, but also because it's a reminder to the town that his nephew, Ian died there... something he blames not only on Delaney, but also on his own son Ethan, for not being there to take Ian's back even though Ian was drunk and being a jerk.

Delaney sees renovating the bar as a way to help out her sisters, and she can do it. This is what she does for a living. Ethan is the towns building inspector, but because his dad is the mayor, he also finds himself desperately needing to get out from under his father's thumb and plans to open a brew pub as soon as he can get his hands on Delaney's liquor license. Problem is... after one passionate night with Delaney and then watching her interact with her aunt, old friends, his own uncle (the only member of his family the doesn't blame him for Ian's death), the rest of the town that seems to have embraced her return and how she stands up to the numerous threats from his father and his brother, Austin, (who happens to be an arrogant cop who thinks he's the biggest badge in the west), Ethan falls madly in love with her.

So... how can Ethan Hayes do all the things he's dreamed of for years and get the girl too? How can Delaney do what she needs to do, help her sisters and get the guy she feels she might have a future with?

Once Delaney figures it all out, her and Ethan get their 'Happily For Now', because, yeah, in the immortal words of Joe Cocker....

"The road is long, there are mountains in our way, but we climb a step everyday".
I liked it! Forbidden Fling was the perfect easy summer read; take this one camping, to the beach, a road trip, on vacation, on staycation, you get what I’m saying here it’s for those times you don’t want to be fully engulfed. It will satisfy your need for a story with a hometown feel, I’m talking rural America drama here, the story of two star-crossed lovers just never gets old.

Delaney is a Hart and Ethan is a Hayes.

‘A Hart and a Hayes? That’s a tall order.’

Delaney fights it and Ethan begs for it. It’s quite the back and forth. Their first meeting was memorable and I enjoyed their connection. The love scenes were hot and timely, not overly done which fit the book and the characters well.

There’s a major divide between them, The Bad Seed Bar, it’s her home-turf and the location of his family’s devastation. There’s bad blood seeping from every board in that old bar and Delaney must figure out what’s best for her and her sisters, renovate that old building or burn her to the ground. Ethan and his family want to have a say in her decision but Delaney is extremely strong and stands her ground, she’ll make up her own mind. I really did like her character, she was smart, savvy and knew her own mind.

This is definitely the first in a series, I’m guessing, all three sisters will get a book, it’s set up that way. I really liked the secondary characters, especially Ethan’s Grandfather and Delaney’s Aunt Phoebe, I appreciated the fact that they each had someone in their corner. I’m looking forward to delving into Wildwood again and watching were these two families end up. The ending was tied up nice and neat but left some tendrils along the way so we are left with minor questions, but I’m hoping we haven’t seen the last of Delaney and Ethan, I want my questions answered. I’m ready for Avery’s book.
